Water Heater Repair in Peoria, Same-Day on Most Jobs

Cold water in the shower goes from annoying to urgent fast. Tank or tankless, we get your hot water back, same day on most jobs.

Peoria's water utility does not publish a hardness figure at all. Its 2025 report gives calcium at 31 to 130 milligrams per liter and magnesium at 19 to 48, which is enough to put the water firmly in the hard range without ever printing a number for it.

Whose Water Is in Your Peoria Tank

Four different water companies serve Peoria addresses. Most of the city is on City of Peoria Water Services, around 135,975 customers, but Sunrise, Rose Valley and EPCOR's Agua Fria district each serve parts of town as well, and EPCOR is the only one of the four that prints a hardness number: 2 to 17 grains per gallon, which it says moves with the season because its supply mixes surface water and groundwater. The city's own supply is a mix too, 61 percent Central Arizona Project water, 31 percent Salt River Project water and 8 percent from wells. A water heater does not care whose logo is on the bill. It collects whatever mineral is in the water at the bottom of the tank, under the burner, for as long as the tank is in service. Peoria requires a separate plumbing trade permit for that work and runs it against its own amended 2018 plumbing code, so it is worth confirming that anybody promising a same-day swap is pulling one.

About a quarter of Peoria's houses went up in the 1990s and a little more than a quarter in the 2000s. A water heater that came with one of those houses is long past the age anybody expects a tank to reach.

Wondering whether your unit needs a repair or a replacement, or what it costs either way? Our water heater repair page covers the signs to watch for and how we decide between repair and replacement. Either way, it starts with our $59 diagnostic, and the same price-before-we-start approach applies here in Peoria.

Frequently Asked Questions

Peoria is 30 to 45 minutes out from our Phoenix office depending on traffic. The $59 diagnostic does not move with that distance or with the clock, so a Saturday night water heater call in Peoria costs the same to diagnose as a Tuesday morning one.

The median Peoria house was finished in 1999, and 52 percent of the city was built between 1990 and 2009. A tank that came with a 1999 house and has never been swapped is 27 years old, which is roughly double what most are built for. Age is not the only tell. Rust in the hot water, a rumble when the burner fires, or a recovery time that keeps getting longer all point at the same thing sitting in the bottom of the tank. Whether it turns into a repair or a replacement, you get the number before we start.
