Garbage Disposal Repair in Phoenix, Fixed Same Day on Most Jobs

Jammed plate, failed motor, or leaking unit: we repair or replace garbage disposals, same day on most jobs.

A garbage disposal failure usually falls into one of three categories: jammed, electrically dead, or leaking. Two of those three are often repairable in a single visit. When it isn't, usually a failed motor or a cracked housing, we replace the unit same day on most jobs and handle the full installation, drain connection included.

Upfront price before we start. We carry standard InSinkErator and comparable units on our trucks, so most replacements happen the same day.

Common Disposal Problems We See in Phoenix

  • Disposal hums but doesn't spin: jammed grinding plate. Push the reset button on the bottom of the unit, then use the hex key port (⅜" hex) to manually turn the plate. If it frees up and resets, you're done. If it keeps jamming, there's an object in the grinding chamber.
  • Disposal is completely dead, no sound at all: check the reset button first, then the circuit breaker. If both are fine, the motor has failed.
  • Disposal leaks from the bottom: a seal failure inside the unit. Usually not repairable; replacement is the right call.
  • Disposal leaks from the side: often the drain connection or dishwasher connection rather than the unit itself. Usually repairable.
  • Disposal leaks from the top (sink flange): sink flange needs to be reseated and re-plumber's-putted. Repairable.
  • Grinding noise that won't stop: small hard object in the chamber (bone chip, fruit pit, silverware). Needs to be cleared before running the unit.
  • Slow drain from disposal side: P-trap clog rather than a disposal issue. We diagnose before recommending a fix.

Disposal Replacement in Phoenix

When replacement is the right call, we carry InSinkErator and comparable units in standard residential sizes. We'll show you the options at different price points, from basic contractor-grade units up to higher-powered models with sound insulation, and let you decide. Full installation includes removal of the old unit, installation of the new one, drain connection, and testing.

If Phoenix's hard water has been an issue for your disposal, with scale on the grinding components and early wear, a water softener is the long-term fix. We install those too.

Disposal Repair and Replacement Cost

Every job starts with our $59 diagnostic. Whether it's a repair or a full replacement, you get the exact price before we start.

Frequently Asked Questions

It starts with our $59 diagnostic. Whether it's a repair or a full replacement with a standard InSinkErator or similar unit, we give you the price before we start.

Not necessarily. A humming disposal with no rotation usually means the plate is jammed, not that the motor is failed. There's a reset button on the bottom and a hex key port to manually free a jammed plate. We can walk you through it on the phone, or come out if it doesn't free up.

Push the reset button on the bottom of the unit first. If that doesn't restore power, check the circuit breaker for the disposal circuit. If both of those are fine and nothing happens, the motor has failed and the unit needs replacement.

A well-maintained disposal lasts 10 to 15 years. Phoenix hard water can shorten that by depositing scale on the grinding components. Running cold water while the disposal operates and flushing with hot water periodically helps slow scale accumulation.

Grease and cooking oil (they solidify in the drain), fibrous vegetables like celery and artichoke leaves (they wrap around the grinding plate), pasta and rice (they swell with water and create clogs), bones (too hard for standard disposals), and coffee grounds (they accumulate in the trap). Most everything else is fine in small quantities.
